Seoul, arguably the world’s (or one of ) the world’s capital’s of cafes, never ceases to amaze me. Seoulism, however, just has a little something extra for me. It’s so spacious, electric, and it just has so many different places where you can sit and catch up with some friends. It honestly feels like in each corner it feels like a whole new place altogether. There’s even an outside portion to enjoy a drink, as well as an upstairs. It was very cold, though, so we didn’t do that. Hopefully next time, though!
There’s also a super cute little background photodrop where you can have Lotte Tower in the background.
This little mural is obviously *the* spot to get your Instagrammable photograph. I probably would have stayed there longer and explored the top floor more if I didn’t feel like my limbs were freezing off. Haha.
Because of it’s size, you don’t have to worry about waiting for a spot, and the drink options are endless. There are even some small food options as well.
It’s a requirement that you order a drink, which is completely understandable. They had a large variety, which I was very impressed with. I tend to get disappointed if I’m somewhere cool and the best they can offer me is an overpriced iced Americano. This time, I had a hot coconut latte, which totally hit the spot. While of course they had a variety of alcohol, I was happy for the cute mocktail options. I didn’t try to mocktail not the salad, the the hot coconut latte was perfect.
What I loved most about the cafe were all of the little added touches. We were going to do the photoboth, but we totally forgot.
So, it’s been a little lonely lately for arguably most of us because of the Pandemic. Rules and regulations are always changing. But I was able to do this from a Kakao meetup group and met these women on a whim. And let me just say–I had the best time ever! It wasn’t the easiest week for me, and I was starting to wonder if maybe I’d never have anyone to go to a cafe with again. But I was so, so, so, so lucky. We all just naturally bonded. I guess that’s the extrovert in me. I’m always willing to just show up to some meetup and walk up to someone and make a friend. And this time, I’m really glad I did.
On a random, blathering note, I think these are things we need to relearn to do more often. We need to get out of our comfort zones and push ourselves to form meaningful connections with people. This may be a controversial statement to make, but I’ve felt that if I “wanted to get out there”, I had to go to a drinking event, and let me tell you, I hate them a solid 99% of the time. But this? A nice afternoon at a cafe? I love this! And it felt really good to know I wasn’t alone, I wasn’t the only person who doesn’t already have 10 best friends to do this with, and that other people want to go out and find connection too. Totally a solid day.
