Musubi Cafe: Veg friendly food in Arashiyama, Japan

If you find yourself in Osaka or Kyoto and you want to explore Arashiyama for a day, a great clean eating stop is Musubi Cafe.

Because Japan has, without a doubt, some of the best food in the world, I was constantly gorging myself throughout my stay there. Stumbling upon this place was an act of pure synchronicity. We weren’t sure what we were going to find on our day trip to Arashiyama, and it seemed like a bit of a walk. We had close to an hour train ride from our hostel so we were starving when we arrived. This is less than a five minute walk from the station.

The foods are all healthy and I believe mostly organic. They are very vegetarian friendly as well. They had a lunch set (both vegetarian and non) for about $12USD. Everything on the tray was part of the lunch set. This was the perfect energy needed for a day walking around Arashiyama.

They also had desserts. I was intrigued by the vegan cheesecake and ice cream. Truth be told, it was a little small and pricey (about $6 if I remember correctly). The cheesecake was okay, but the ice cream was a great complement.
