Jinju Lantern Festival

Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival originates from the lantern lighting custom used during the Jinjuseong Fortress Battle of the Imjinwaeran War (Japanese invasion, 1592) as a military strategy to prevent Japanese troops from wading the Namgang River. –Visit Korea

Last Saturday, I went with a tour group to the Jinju Lantern Festival. It was about a four-hour bus ride, but I’m really thankful my friend invited me to go. It was my first time going.

When we first arrived, we went through a temple. Also, we got there early enough that we got to see the difference between the lanterns during the day and when they were all lit up.

Although this wasn’t a lantern festival like the kind from Tangled, I still found it stunning. I liked the lantern tunnel at night the best.
